Privacy Policy

Your data stays on your device. Always.

Data Collection

We do not collect any data. Soak operates entirely offline and does not send any information to our servers or third parties. We have no analytics, no tracking, no advertising.

Local Storage

Soak stores the following data locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API:

• Extension settings: on/off state, number of words to show, difficulty level, target language (English or Chinese), highlight color preference
• Learning data: words you've added to your learning list, how many times you've seen each word on webpages
• Daily statistics: count of words seen today and total words seen
• Site preferences: list of websites where you've enabled or disabled the extension
• Translation cache: cached translations to improve performance (automatically cleaned after 24 hours)

This data is stored only in your browser and is never transmitted anywhere. We cannot access it. If you uninstall the extension, all data is automatically deleted.

Permissions

Soak requires the following browser permissions:

• "Read and change all your data on all websites" — This permission is required to scan webpage text and display translations above Russian words. The extension only reads visible text content on the page. It does not access, read, or store: passwords, form data, cookies, browsing history, personal information, or any data you enter on websites.
• "Storage" — Required to save your settings and learning progress locally in your browser.

Third-Party Services

Soak does not integrate with any third-party services. There are no:

• Analytics services (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
• Advertising networks
• Social media integrations
• External APIs or servers

Translation Source

All translations come from a dictionary file that is included in the extension package. Translations are performed entirely on your device — no data is sent to translation services or external APIs.

Data Security

Since all data stays on your device and is never transmitted, there is no risk of data breaches from our side. Your learning progress is as secure as your browser's local storage.

Children's Privacy

Soak does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13 years of age. The extension does not require registration or any personal information to use.

Updates to This Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date below. Significant changes will be communicated through the Chrome Web Store update notes.
